Targeted Nutrition Therapy
Becca Fichtl - The Real Food Philosopher
About Me
Becca Fichtl - NTM, Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist® Candidate, Certified Wahl's Protocol® Health Practitioner
Why I do what I do
I came to the nutrition field through sickness and loss; sickness of my sister, my brother and of many friends. Tremendous losses; of my other sister, my mother, my father and my dear friend Julie.
My informal education started because of my mom (she was a health nut in my younger years) and my formal education started because of my family and my friend Julie – I couldn’t sit still anymore. There had to be an answer to all of this disease.
I am a Certified Nutrition Therapist Master (NTM), Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist® candidate, and a Wahl’s Protocol® Certified Health Practitioner. I studied at the Nutrition Therapy Institute of Denver, Colorado.
Prior to my nutrition awakening and education, I received my BS in Management from Clarkson University and worked as a management consultant for Accenture. Eventually, I decided to be a stay at home mom for my three kids. I live in the Pittsburgh PA area with my husband, kids (the ones who aren’t fully grown yet) and two sweet pups.
So, my why – why I’m doing Real Food Philosopher is to stop disease from touching my life. If you are touching my life, then my why includes you.
What is Nutrition Therapy?
Nutrition Therapy is a bio-individual and holistic approach to health. Its focus is on food and lifestyle with great consideration to the individual response of both internal and external factors.
Your body breaks down because it doesn’t have the building blocks it needs to heal from assaults - small or large.
Proper nutrition using real food, provides your body with an abundance of nutrients and micronutrients to build up your body and keep you strong. Real food. Yes, it’s that simple, just eat real food - as close to its original form as possible. Cooked, raw or in-between is great, just not processed or laden with chemicals.
Eat foods of many colors … lots of dark greens along with some animals who got their food from the pasture. Also, you can (and should) even eat some organ meat – it’s real food.
Wild animals, wild fish, wild plants … do you see a pattern?
Through targeted nutritional therapy, I use food to provide your body with the strongest weapons for the battle.
REAL. FOOD. That’s my philosophy. REAL food provides REAL nutrition.

The Wahls Protocol
Targeted Nutrition for those suffering with Autoimmune Disorders
Like many physicians, Dr. Terry Wahls focused on treating her patients’ ailments with drugs or surgical procedures—until she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2000. Within three years, her back and stomach muscles had weakened to the point where she needed a tilt-recline wheelchair. Conventional medical treatments were failing her, and she feared that she would be bedridden for the rest of her life.
Dr. Wahls began studying the latest research on autoimmune disease and brain biology, and decided to get her vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids from the food she ate rather than pills and supplements. Dr. Wahls adopted the nutrient-rich paleo diet, gradually refining and integrating it into a regimen of neuromuscular stimulation. First, she walked slowly, then steadily, and then she biked eighteen miles in a single day. In November 2011, Dr. Wahls shared her remarkable recovery in a TEDx talk that immediately went viral.
Now, in The Wahls Protocol, she shares the details of the protocol that allowed her to reverse many of her symptoms, get back to her life, and embark on a new mission: to share the Wahls Protocol with others suffering from the ravages of multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune conditions.

Becca is awesome! I went to her after struggling with digestive problems for years. She met me where I was at, moved at a pace that worked for me, and didn’t let me beat myself up. Becca was more than just a nutrition therapist; she helped me to grow in my determination and skills so that I could create and sustain a better lifestyle. I now know the specific foods that bother me, cook multiple times a week, and have even started helping others in their journey to feel better.I would highly recommend Becca to anyone!
